The local administration and the Italian alpine club (CAI) together agreed on a selection of 12 routes meant to meet all tastes and requirements in order to get to know panoramic sights, places of historical and naturalistic interest – and all of them begin only a few steps away from our Hotel.

Besides informative signposting they also created a map which shows the routes one may take by foot, by horse or by mountain bike – in order to discover the natural beauties hidden in our landscape.

You can find this map at the Tourist's office of Castelnuovo Val di Cecina.

Here we introduce one of the routes you can find there:

"THE TWO BRIDGES"

This route is shaped like a small ring beginning at the end of the old village, leading around it and entering the centre as well. Then from an intermediate ring you can reach the Madonna del Piano. Finally you find a third small ring that leads you towards the well-known historical bridges (Ponti storici) on the Pavone: The high bridge (Ponte Alto) cannot be crossed, so there one has to get his feet wet in the brook, while you can cross the Ponte del Defizio, made for pedestrians , with two arcades, on the inside of which there was a pipe meant to carry water to the water mills on the other side of the brook, there you can go back to the crossing of Madonna al Piano.
